Nokia XR20 spotted online agead of launch, smartphone’s rugged design hinted at

An image of what is supposed to be the upcoming Nokia XR20 was spotted online briefly on the Nokia Phones Community forum. Nokia has a phone launching on July 27 and it might be this one.

We've told you earlier that Nokia has a phone launching in July 27, and as per the teaser, this is a smartphone that does not require a mobile cover. This lead to speculations that Nokia's upcoming device is going to be a rugged one and it might be the Nokia XR20. Now, just days before the launch the image of a new Nokia phone has been spotted online that hints at some of its key features. The phone spotted in the image could be the Nokia XR20 which is expected to come with a rugged design and dust, water protection. The image also showed off a dual rear camera setup and a textured back.

According to a report by LoveNokia, the image that turned up briefly on the Nokia Phone Community forums is the Nokia XR20. The image just shows the back of the Nokia phone and it appears in a blue, covered with water droplets. You can also see the speaker grille at the bottom of the device along with a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There also appears to be a lanyard eyelet on one of the sides at the bottom. While we cannot confirm the authenticity of the image, it is believed to be the device Nokia is launching later this month.

In the image Nokia had shared on Twitter you could see the circular camera module on the back and the case carried an inscription that stated - “With our newest Nokia phone you will never need a case again 20.07.21.”

Older reports of the Nokia XR20 that appeared on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) website in July listed the upcoming smartphone with three distinct model numbers - TA-1362, TA-1368, and TA-1371. The Nokia XR20 with the model number TA-1362 was also spotted on a Russian retail site that also included some of its key specs.

As per the online listing on the Russian retailer's site, the Nokia XR20 is going to come with a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1,080x2,400 pixels) display. The phone is also expected to have at least 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage as well as the dual rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 13-megapixel secondary sensor. It may come with an 8-megapixel selfie camera and a 4,630mAh battery, as per the listing. The phone, as per the listing, appeared to have Wi-Fi and NFC as well as a USB Type-C port.

While the listing did not suggest any details about the SoC, a Geekbench listing suggests that the Nokia XR20 might come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480. With the launch just a few days away, we expect to learn more about the device soon.
