Pill-shaped cutout on iPhone 14 Pro is NOT for aesthetics, it has a BIG purpose
Apple may bring a major change in the iPhone 14 Pro models’ design with the the pill-shaped cutout. But it may have some useful features too. Here’s what.
Since long, the iPhone 14 Pro models have been rumoured to feature a new large pill-shaped cutout that will lead to the abandonment of the age-old notch. However, you will be surprised to know, the new pill-shaped cutout will not be on the iPhone 14 Pro models just for aesthetics. In fact, it has a big purpose. The latest leaked clip of the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro cut out will support a selfie camera as well as Face ID hardware. According to the GSMArena report, there will be a system in dual-cutout setup on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to black out the pixels between the two cutouts. This way, the whole area appears as one solid piece.
A leaked clip on Twitter (which has now been removed), demonstrated how the pill-shaped cut out will merge into one. The report suggests that the area between the duo cutouts is expected to be reserved for the new privacy indicators, which made its debut with iOS 14. What will it do? The indicator will flash an alert for you when an app is actively using the iPhone's microphone or video cameras. That means, if there is an unauthorized usage happening, you will immediately know.
And, there are other exciting features this upcoming design upgrade on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will bring.

iPhone 14 Pro's cutout functions
The addition of pill-shaped cutout on iPhone 14 Pro models could free up the corners of the display to keep more status icons. “Apple will use the new cutout to redesign the status bar exclusively for the iPhone 14. Quite a few renders have surfaced suggesting that Cupertino might go back to a more classic design,” the report quoted rumours.
One of these status icons may include the battery info bar which will show up the percentage as well as an icon to the far right. It may also keep a location symbol. However, on the left, network signal and carrier information may take their place too. However, it is still unclear whether Apple will bring the technology to join the cutouts with black pixels or not.
