The latest news about WhatsApp is that the app-maker is working on an improvement to group voice calls feature and that it is set to completely change the way it works. Voice calls are an important part of WhatsApp's communications features and group voice calls are a very popular feature among the app's users, but the functionality is still rough around the edges.

What is WhatsApp 'Tap to Join' feature: The messaging app is reportedly working on a ‘Tap to Join' feature that will allow users to join a call they have been invited to. At the moment, group voice calls on WhatsApp involve three or more users on the app. The biggest limitation faced by users is that if a member misses a group call, they must be manually added to the group call again. WhatsApp is looking to change this functionality by allowing users to join a call they have been invited to, even if they have missed the original call, according to a report by WABetaInfo.

How this WhatsApp feature works: Instead of showing a missed call, the app will show users an indicator that the call is ongoing in the calls tab on WhatsApp. This is according to a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, which shows a ‘Tap to Join' message in the list. Meanwhile, if a user is unable to join a group audio call at first, they can simply tap the new ‘Join Call' button inside the group chat, according to the report.

WhatsApp group voice calls: According to WABetaInfo, another improvement that is coming to the WhatsApp group voice call interface on iOS will simplify the options and will look more like Apple's FaceTime. Users will see a new Ring button as well, but the report does not specify what it does at the moment.

WhatsApp group voice calls availability: The feature is only available on WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.21.140.11. The report says that WhatsApp beta for Android users will also see the feature arrive shortly.
