Xiaomi 12X India launch SOON: Variants, Colours, and expected prices

The Xiaomi 12X is a more watered down version of the Xiaomi 12 tailored to appeal to the affordable end of the market.

Xiaomi 12X just got announced in China alongside the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro flagships. And after barely a few days, leaks suggest that Xiaomi India is bringing the Xiaomi 12X to our shores soon. How soon? No information on that front but the leak reveals information regrading storage and colour variants, as well as the expected price range.

The Xiaomi 12X is a more watered down version of the Xiaomi 12 tailored to appeal to the affordable end of the market. It retains 80 percent of the features of the Xiaomi 12, save for the fancy bells and whistles, as well as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. In India, this one is likely to replace the Xiaomi Mi 11X from early 2021.

Based on the report from 91Mobiles, it is said that the Xiaomi 12X will be available in India in two storage variants. The phone will be available with 8GB RAM as standard but buyers can choose between 128GB and 256GB storage capacities. The phone is also likely to available in three colour variants: purple, blue, and gray.

While the price range isn't clear yet, it is said that the Xiaomi 12X could starts from around ₹40,000. Given Xiaomi India's history of lowering the prices than hinted, we expect it to carry a price tag on lines with the Xiaomi Mi 11X, i.e., a starting price of under ₹35,000.

Compared to the Xiaomi Mi 11X, the Xiaomi 12X is a mild upgrade. The same Snapdragon 870 chipset remains on the new model but the display will be smaller at 6.2-inches and will have a curved-edge design. The camera setup on the rear gets a new 50MP sensor and a 13MP ultra-wide camera along with a 5MP macro camera. The selfie camera is now rated at 32MP. The charging speed has been upgraded to 67W while the battery capacity has gone down to 4500mAh.
