Adobe has released the first version of Photoshop that's going to run natively on Apple Macs that come with the new M1 chip. And this version of Photoshop has been optimised for better performance on both the M1 and Intel-powered Macs.

Besides this, Apple is also shipping two important new Photoshop on iPad features - Cloud Documents Version History and Cloud Documents offline access. Additionally, there is a new Super Resolution feature that is now available in the Adobe Camera Raw plugin. This feature uses machine learning technology to boost the resolution of an image with just a click.

The public beta builds of Photoshop are being distributed through the Creative Cloud Desktop on the M1 Macs already.

For Photoshop on the iPad, the Cloud Documents Version History and Cloud Documents offline access has been rolled out.

Cloud Documents Version History

Since Cloud Documents are auto-saved, every document also has a version history. Now will now be able to browse and revert back for up to 60 days of your history. Versions can also be bookmarked so they don't expire, renamed and saved permanently. To access this capability, tap on the hamburger menu on any of your documents on the home screen.

Make Cloud Documents available offline

You can now select the Cloud Documents you want to store locally and access them while you are offline. You can download cloud documents from the home screen and to free up space on your iPad, you can also remove the document from your local cache by selecting “Make online only”.

Super Resolution in Adobe Camera Raw Plugin

The new Super Resolution feature in the Adobe Camera Raw plugin in Photoshop is also being rolled out and it will be soon available on both Lightroom and Lightroom Classic.

This feature will help you enlarge a photo without losing any of its details. Super Resolution uses advanced machine learning that's been trained on millions of photos and can enlarge photos while maintaining clean edges and preserving details.
