Samsung launches The Serif, 2020 QLED 8K TVs in India

Samsung's The Serif is priced between 83,900 and 1,48,900 in India.

Samsung last week announced that it would launch a bunch of new smart TVs in India later this month. Today, the company kept good on its promises and launched The Serif and its 2020 QLED 8K TVs in the country.

The Serif

The Serif has been designed by Parisian design duo Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. It comes with a uni-body design that is shaped in the form of the letter “I”. On the technology front, it comes with 100% colour volume and Quantum Processor 4K and HDR 10+ support. It also comes with inbuilt NFC that enables users to connect TV to their smartphones' by placing their smartphones on top of the TV. Additionally, it features support for AirPlay 2.

The Serif will be available in three sizes. A 43-inch model that will cost 83,900, a 49-inch model that will cost 1,16,900 and a 55-inch that will cost 1,48,900. It will be available only on Amazon, Samsung's official online store, Samsung Shop and select Samsung Smart Plazas. On Amazon, it will be available at a special price between July 8 and July 17.

2020 QLED 8K TVs

Samsung's QLED 8K TVs come with a 99% screen-to-body ratio, 8K Resolution, 8K AI Upscaling, Quantum Processor 8K, and Quantum HDR technologies. Samsung says that this range of smart TVs offer 33 million pixels, which in turn provides a true-to-life picture quality. The 2020 QLED 8K TVs have Q-Symphony and Object Tracking Sound+ experience for an advanced audio experience.

Samsung's new range of QLED 8K TVs comprise four models. The 65-inch model costs 4.99 lakhs, the 75-inch model costs 9.99 lakh, the 82-inch model costs 14.29 lakhs and the 85-inch model costs 15.79 lakhs.

QLED 8K TV line-up will be available on pre-booking between July 1 and July 20. Buyers will get two Galaxy S20 Plus smartphones on the purchase of the smart TV. In addition to this, customers can get a cashback of 15,000 on using their HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank credit and debit cards or Federal Bank debit cards for the purchase. Customers will also get up to 50% discount on subscriptions of OTT platforms such as ZEE5, Sony Liv & Eros Now, and free subscription for music streaming apps such as Gaana Plus for one-year and Apple Music for three months along with free subscription to Office365 along with 5GB of cloud storage.

Apart from 8K TVs, Samsung has also launched 4K TVs as a part of its 2020 QLED TV lineup that will be available from screen sizes ranging between 43-inches to 75-inches.

Both the QLED 8K and QLED 4K models will be available across all Samsung Smart Plazas, leading consumer electronic stores and across online platforms, including Samsung's official online store Samsung Shop in India
