PUBG:New State may launch in India, official Hindi website found in game code
PUBG: New State, the next-gen successor to PUBG Mobile, was recently announced and it promises a whole arsenal of new weapons and new maps. However, at the time of the announcement there was no information about whether it would ever launch in India. Given that PUBG Mobile India still hasn't seen the light of day here, it is not wholly surprising though.
PUBG fans were disappointed no doubt, but it looks like there still might be hope. According to an Instagram post from gaming blog GemWire, the source code of the PUBG: New State microsite has “provision for loading in Hindi”.
“Recently, with no pre-registrations available for India, China and Vietnam, there was certain uncertainty of whether the game would be available in India. Inspecting the website files shows us that there is a transcript file for Hindi hidden. The support for the Hindi language which is predominantly spoken in India suggests that it might make its way to India sooner or later [sic],” the GemWire post claims.
This ideally points to the fact that while no announcements have been made yet, Krafton (the publishers for PUBG in India) does have plans to launch PUBG: New State here.
According to an IGN report, the Hindi language site also has full-script Hindi translation of the content as well which indicates that the version is ready for release as soon as an official decision is made on the game's launch in India. For now though, the Hindi webpage and its content have been internally disabled and the reasons for this is most likely connected to PUBG Mobile's ongoing issues with the Indian government that started in 2020 when the game was banned.
PUBG: New State is an entirely different game as compared to PUBG Mobile but it remains to be seen if this gets ministry clearance. And given how things have been going for Krafton and PUBG Mobile in India, you might be waiting for a while.
