Amazon launches second-gen Echo Show 8 in India; check price, specs, availability here

The second-generation Amazon Echo Show 8 comes with an 8-inch HD screen with adaptive colour, which the company says offers a better display experience.

Amazon launched its second-generation Echo Show 10 and Echo Show 5 in India back in June this year. The two smart displays were launched in India at a price of ₹24,999 and ₹8,999 respectively. Today, the company added another smart display to its portfolio by launching the second-generation Echo Show 8. With an 8-inch display, the newly launched Echo Show 8 sits right between the Echo Show 10, which comes with a 10-inch display and the Echo Show 5, which features a 5-inch display.

The newly launched second-generation Amazon Echo Show 10 is priced at ₹13,999 in India in Black and White colour variants. It will be available at a discounted price of ₹11,499 in India for a limited time. The second-gen Echo Show 8 is already available for purchase via Amazon India's online platform. Meanwhile, the first-generation Echo Show 8 is available at a price of ₹8,999 on Amazon India.

The second-generation Echo Show 8 comes with an 8-inch HD screen with adaptive colour, which the company says offers a better display experience. Unlike the first-gen Echo Show 8 that came with a 1MP front-facing camera, the new Echo Show 8 comes with a 13MP camera and dual stereo speakers for a better audio experience.

The newly launched Echo Show 8 like all other smart speakers and smart displays by Amazon is powered by the company's virtual assistant Alexa. Users can ask Alexa to play their favourite TV series or movies from Amazon Prime Video and Netflix app on the Echo Show 8 smart display. Users can also ask Alexa to play their favourite music from Amazon Prime Music, Spotify, JioSaavn, Apple Music, Hungama music or Gaana on the newly launched smart display. Amazon India also announced that Alexa will now show users music playlists or station recommendations based on the song playing on Amazon Prime Music or Spotify, which in turn would make it easier for them to discover more artists and songs. Additionally, users can sing along to their favourite songs with on-screen lyrics from Amazon Prime Music.

In addition to all these, the second-generation Echo Show 8 also acts like a smart home hub. Users can set up and control thousands of Wi-Fi connected smart home appliances such as lights, plugs, AC, fans, TVs, geysers and more that work with Alexa. They can also remotely monitor their home and view live video feeds from Echo Show 8's camera on their smartphone or other Echo Show devices.

Apart from the above-mentioned features, Amazon Echo Show 8 users can make hands-free video calls with Alexa to their friends and family that have the Alexa app or other Echo Show devices. Amazon says that the improved 13MP camera with auto framing feature can pan and zoom to make sure you and your family are always in frame. Furthermore, Amazon users can also use Facebook Photos to turn their home screen into a digital frame and put their memories on display.
