In a nasty surprise, the iPhone 14 Pro camera was shaking and rattling. (Amritanshu / HT Tech)

The premium and the most awaited phones of the year - iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max - have finally made their debut. These two Pro models got some notable upgrades including Dynamic Island, 48MP camera and even a new chip. However, now there seems to be a problem with the fancy new camera. It is being reported by users that the camera was actually shaking and rattling.

Concerned iPhone 14 Pro users reported the issues on Twitter, Reddit, and TikTok. However, the reports suggested that the issue with the camera is linked to third-party apps such as Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram, while the issue doesn't appear to affect the in-built camera. "So I've been experiencing my camera shaking uncontrollably whenever I open Snapchat or use the camera for Instagram. However, I don't run into any issues when I use the regular camera app? Is this hardware or an issue with 3rd party apps?" one of the iPhone 14 Pro user complained on Reddit.

"Picked up my new iPhone 14 pro yesterday and intermittently get ois camera shake (by shake I mean can see and hear it shaking) in Snapchat," another user showed the concerns. A few other users echoed the same issues while using the rear camera with Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok.

YouTuber Luke Miani has also shared his experience while sharing a video showing the issue on one of the iPhone 14 Pro Max units suggesting the main lens on the device vibrating uncontrollably.

What caused the iPhone 14 Pro camera issues?

The reason behind the camera shaking issues on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Max is not clear. However, a 9to5Mac report suggests that “Because this iPhone 14 Pro camera shaking/rattling problem is only affecting the camera in third-party apps, it's almost certainly a software bug of some sort. It is likely that these third-party apps weren't prepared for the iPhone 14 Pro camera changes.” The report further suggests that it is possibly related to the optical image stabilization which is causing the rattling sound on the camera module. For now, there is no fix to the issue.
