The iPhone 14 launch may lead to the discontinuation of some iPhones from the current Apple lineup. (Mint Print)

With the iPhone 14 launch, which is just three days away, you may see several old iPhones, that have been favourites of many, being killed off. Before you start worrying, let us tell you that Apple hasn't announced anything in regards to the discontinuation of previous iPhone models. However, several reports have suggested that Apple may ditch the older iPhones, especially iPhone 11 after the iPhone 14 launch. Apple tends to follow this norm to ensure sales of new models are not affected. These are the iPhone models whose very existence has been put in doubt by the iPhone 14 launch:

iPhone 11

A previous report by iDropNews hinted that Apple may drop the iPhone 11 as it is taking the sale of the new iPhone SE 3 away. Plus, the iPhone 11 doesn't support 5G. The same claim has been echoed by a Tom's Guide report, which says, “"Apple also rarely keeps phones longer than three years after their release date. The iPhone 11, unveiled in September 2019, is rapidly approaching its Sell-By date, so it's a pretty safe bet that it's getting cycled out of the lineup this fall.”

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max

While analyzing the previous patterns, it is suggested that Apple may kill off the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Significantly, since the start of Pro and Pro Max models back in 2019, Apple never kept any of its Pro versions for more than a year. Also, the new iPhone 14 is expected to get the same iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max's chipset.

iPhone 12 mini

Apple is said to avoid the iPhone 14 mini in favour of the new large iPhone 14 Max or Plus, as the mini version in the past failed to deliver the expected sales. While keeping this in mind, Apple may discontinue the iPhone 12 mini too.

However, even if Apple discontinues any of these iPhones, you will still be able to find them on several online retailers and e-commerce websites till the stock exists.

iPhone FUN FACT

Did you know? The iPhone 12 was the first 5G phone of Apple's flagship series. Before that, Apple continued to offer 4G services. Not just that, this iPhone 12 series had seen the first mini iPhone which had similar specs as the standard iPhone 12, but in a smaller size.
