Every year, Apple improves the level of performance of its iPhones with its own chipsets. The iPhone 13 series took its power from the current flagship A15 Bionic chipset. This year, Apple is said to make a drastic change in its hardware policy. The upcoming iPhone 14 series will be divided into two segments - the Pro versions with the most upgrades and the non-Pro versions, which are expected to miss out on a number of things, including the next A16 Bionic chipset. Apple's next A16 Bionic chipset will likely only power the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, unlike the entire iPhone 13 lineup which got a massive boost from its predecessor with the A15 Bionic chipset- the Pro variants did get a little different and more powerful chipset, but essentially, it was the A15. The difference was in the RAM and GPU cores.

Now, Macworld confirms that we might see the new A16 chipset exclusively for the iPhone 14 Pro lineup. Sadly, the non-pro variants of the iPhone 14 are expected to settle with the A15 Bionic chipset, albeit the 5-core version that is found in the iPhone 13 Pro models. Moreover, the report focused on the new upgrade and the power boost that iPhone 14 Pro models are set to bring with this A16 Bionic chipset.

A16 Bionic chipset power BOOST to iPhone 14 Pro models

The latest report from Macworld showed a glimpse of the new chipset and its process based on the estimations. It is tipped that the A16 chipset will be manufactured on the 5nm process by TSMC while delivering moderate improvements to its predecessor. The report predicted that it will simply boost the performance by about 15 percent.

Not sure which
mobile to buy?

“I think Apple will move to LPDDR5 this year, which should improve memory bandwidth, and some other improvements, combined with higher peak clock speeds, might get Apple up to a 15 percent performance improvement,” the Macworld report mentioned.

However, Apple is still in the process of announcing its next iPhone 14 series, so you should take this information with a pinch of salt until Apple announces itself.
