It is rumoured to have the same 6.7-inch screen size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, albeit without the features that make it “Pro”. Apple is restarting the trend of assigning “Plus” tag with its larger devices, last seen in the iPhone 8 Plus. (Representational image) (Amritanshu Mukherjee / HT Tech)

mobile to buy?

The Cupertino-based tech giant announced iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on September 7, 2016, but it was iPhone 7 Plus which garnered all the headlines. iPhone 7 Plus was the first Apple iPhone to arrive with dual cameras offering stunning image quality without any compromise.

iPhone 7 Plus was launched with dual 12MP wide-angle and telephoto cameras with one wide-angle camera and one telephoto camera with optical image stabilization. The smartphone offered hardware-based software photography and Live Photos feature. iPhone 7 Plus also offered 4K video recording at 30 frames per second which also supported OIS.

Its dual camera features immediately won fans all over the world. It became the talk of the town with people gushing over how Apple revolutionized the smartphone industry again after yet another innovation.

At the launch event, Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said, “iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus dramatically improve every aspect of the iPhone experience, reaching a new level of innovation and precision to make this the best iPhone we have ever made.”

iPhone 7 Plus was powered by Apple's new four-core A10 Fusion chip which offered twice as fast performance compared to the iPhone 6 with improved battery life. It was also the first iPhone to offer water and dust resistance. The smartphone also had other ground-breaking features but once again, its cameras propelled it as arguably the best camera smartphone in the market at that time.

Now, Apple is looking to capture the market once again with its upcoming iPhone 14. All that's left is playing the waiting game until the smartphone officially launches on September 7. Will it be a game-changer phone? Keep watching this space.
