Motorola is working on a rollable RAZR! Not folding but ROLLABLE!
Motorola is working on a rollable display phone that could launch later in the year. Here are all the details.
Motorola is working on a phone with an expandable display. No, we are not talking about the third generation of RAZR foldable — this is about a new model that will have a rollable display. Based on some new leaks and rumours, the Motorola phone with a rollable display is in the works. This is not a new concept yet considering that most other brands have come with a rollable concept display smartphone previously., with Oppo being the only one showing us a working prototype. Motorola is doing things a bit differently though.
Renowned tipster Evan Blass in his report for 91Mobiles says that this Motorola rollable phone is internally called the “Felix”. But unlike the Oppo rollable smartphone, Motorola's implementation is a bit different. Motorola will go for the same vertical layout we have sene on the RAZR, and the display will rollout vertically instead of horizontally. This means unlocking the phone could give you a normal sized smartphone and when you are done, you will be able to roll it down. In the rilled up from, it is supposed to be a small, easy-to-pocket device, just like how you could pocket a RAZR easily.
Motorola rollable phone in the works
For those into foldable phones, the Motorola rollable phone could be another interesting bit to consider. However, note that this rollable phone is still in the early stages of development and Motorola could cancel it if things don't work out. Blass says that the development is still in a very early stage and Motorola had to conduct software test on a Motorola Edge 30 Pro test bed. If things work out, we could be seeing this rollable display phone after a year or two at the earliest.
Right now, Motorola is working on a successor to the Razr 5G foldable phone, called the RAZR 3. The leaks show a new design on the phone, wherein it ditches the iconic Razr elements in favour of a more “Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3”-like design. The phone will have a dual camera system on the front, and seems to have a large outer display. The inner display also gets rid of the earpiece and camera notch, and in its place sits a small camera cutout with slim all-round bezels.
