Vivo is selling a phone that comes with a meteorite in the box! As Apple and Samsung are determined to remove the charger from the box, Vivo does a special edition of its flagship X Note smartphone that comes with a piece of a meteorite. It is called the Vivo X Note Aerospace Edition and is only available in the Chinese market for now. The phone is essentially a regular X Note and all that “special edition-ness” is limited to the packaging box. At least somebody care about the unboxing experience these days!

The phone is based on the Vivo X Note that was unveiled earlier this month as Vivo's latest flagship offering for China. The X Note series is expected to be renamed as the Vivo X80 series for global markets and expected to be sold as the successor to the Vivo X70, thereby taking on the iPhone 13. What remains to be seen is whether this special edition Vivo X Note Aerospace Edition makes it to the markets outside China.

Vivo X Note Aerospace Edition brings space to you

As part of the special edition packaging, the X Note Aerospace edition carries a special pendulum housing that holds a piece of the Achondrite meteorite from the Moon. This rare space mineral is stored in a glass housing and attached to a leather strap. This special edition is said to be a special collaboration between Vivo and the China Aerospace Agency.

As for the phone, there's nothing special on that front, unless you consider its larger-than-life specs for a non-foldable phone. The X Note offers a massive 7-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD+ resolution, refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and curved edges. This display also gets a 3D fingerprint scanner that we saw earlier on the iQOO 9 Pro, and it allows you to configure two fingerprint scans to unlock the devices.

For performance, the X Note Aerospace Edition uses the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip that we have seen on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the iQOO 9 Pro. This is accompanied by 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. All of this relies on a 5000mAh battery to stay alive, and you can use the 80W charger in the box to do a full charge in 32 minutes. The phone also supports 50W wireless charging.

It has even got some beefier cameras, consisting of a 50MP OIS assisted main camera, an 8MP periscope camera with 5X optical zoom, another 12MP camera with2X zoom, and a 48MP ultra-wide camera.
