Samsung Galaxy S phone with Snapdragon 720G chip! Yes, that is in the works
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 4G variant could be announced soon with a midrange Snapdragon 720G chipset. Here are all details.
Earlier this year, Samsung announced the Galaxy S21 FE in India and global markets as the more affordable variant of the Galaxy S21 series. In India, it got the flagship Exynos 2100 chip, a solid triple camera setup, an amazing display, and a lightweight build. It came at a price though, and someone spending a few more thousands above the baseline price of Rs. 54,999 could venture into the Galaxy S21, or even the Galaxy S22. Samsung now seems to be working on a cheaper variant of the same.
Based on the latest rumours emerging from GalaxyClub, Samsung is finalizing a Galaxy S21 FE 4G for some markets. Yes, a 4G variant of the Galaxy S21 FE is on the cards and Samsung is compromising with the chipset majorly. Compared to powerful Snapdragon 888 and the Exynos 2100, the 4G variant will be using the older Snapdragon 720G chipset. You read it right – a Galaxy S device with an old Snapdragon 720G chip.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE getting 4G treatment
The Galaxy S21 FE 4G was recently certified by the Bluetooth SIG, confirming that it has Bluetooth 5.2 on board. In comparison, the Galaxy S21 FE 5G only has Bluetooth 5.0. According to multiple listings in Scandinavian online stores, as well as stores in Belgium and the Netherlands, it is said that 4G variant will use the Snapdragon 720G chipset.
What remains to be seen is how the rest of the phone shapes up. The Galaxy S21 FE 5G features a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a 4500mAh battery with 25W fast wired charging, wireless charging, a 12MP + 12MP + 8MP triple rear camera setup, a stereo speaker setup, and a IP67 water and dust resistance rating.
Will the 4G variant of the Galaxy S21 FE retain the remaining aspects? We will have to wait and see. It is also curious to see what sort of pricing will the 4G variant have? The last Samsung phone to use the Snapdragon 720G chip was the Galaxy A52 and that carried a price of less than Rs. 30,000.
However, with 5G now expanding to more markets, with India also in the cards, will launching a high-end 4G smartphone make sense for a brand like Samsung?
