Samsung launches Galaxy A42 5G, its most affordable 5G phone to date

With 5G gradually expanding its coverage in the West, Samsung has been busy expanding its smartphone lineup that supports the next-gen connectivity. All of its premium phones come with 5G support. The company is also focusing on capturing the lower tier of the market with more affordable 5G phones. The latest offering in this direction is Galaxy A42 5G, its most affordable 5G smartphone to date.
Priced at GBP 349 ( ₹33,400 approximately), Samsung Galaxy A42 5G will be available in the UK starting November 6. It will also be available in other parts of Europe later next month. Samsung Galaxy A42 5G follows the Galaxy A51 5G which launched in the US earlier this year for $499 ( ₹36,600 approximately).

Samsung Galaxy A42 5G looks identical to some of the recently launched Galaxy A and Galaxy M phones. It has a familiar dewdrop-like cutout on the front. The back panel houses a square-like camera module that houses as many as four sensors. The shell also has a quad-tone finish. Samsung Galaxy A42 5G is available in Prism Dot Black, Prism Dot White, and Prism Dot Gray colour options.
Samsung Galaxy A42 5G comes with a 6.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with HD+ resolution. It also supports on-screen fingerprint sensor.
The 5G phone comes with four rear cameras featuring a 48-megapixel primary sensor, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, 5-megapixel depth sensor, and 5-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, it has a 20-megapixel selfie camera.
For performance, the phone relies upon Qualcomm's Snapdragon 750G processor. It comes in 4/6/8GB RAM versions. The phone has 128GB built-in storage. There is also a microSD card slot that supports additional storage up to 1TB. It runs on a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging support.
