The Xiaomi 12 series consists of three Xiaomi 12 models in the pipeline, including the Xiaomi 12X.

The Xiaomi 12 series is finally official! After endless weeks of teasers and leaks, Xiaomi's flagship smartphones for 2022 are here. At launch, there are three models for the Chinese market – the vanilla Xiaomi 12, the beefed up Xiaomi 12 Pro, and a more affordable Xiaomi 12X. Prices start at Yuan 3199 (approx. ₹37,000) for the base variant of the Xiaomi 12X.

Xiaomi is yet to comment on the global availability of these phones yet. Also, note that there's is no Xiaomi 12 Ultra yet; that could be reserved for a later launch in 2022. Similar to the leaks, the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip while the Xiaomi 12X is based on the Snapdragon 870 chip.

The Xiaomi 12 is the standard model, starting at Yuan 3699 (approx. ₹43,380) for the base version with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone gets a 6.28-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, making it smallest Xiaomi 12 model this year. This is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. This is a 12-bit display and has peak brightness of up to 1500nits.

Powering the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform is a 4500mAh battery with 67W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The rear cameras consist of a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor that is accompanied by another 13MP ultra-wide camera and a 5MP macro camera sensor. The phone will come with MIUI 13 out of the box.

Xiaomi 12 Pro

The Xiaomi 12 Pro has a bigger 6.7-inch 1440p AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip remains the same but this is backed by a 4600mAh battery relying on a 120W fast charging system. The 50W wireless charging remains.

The rear cameras is where the Xiaomi 12 Pro differs. The 50MP main camera is using a Sony IMX707 sensor with 1/1.28-inch sensor size. This is accompanied by a 50MP portrait camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. There's a new CyberFocus autofocus system that can lock focus on a particular subject's face.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro starts at Yuan 4,699 (approx. ₹55,000) for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Xiaomi 12X

Lastly, the Xiaomi 12X is the most affordable model here. It is largely based on the Xiaomi 12, which means you get a 6.2-inch AMOLED display, 67W fast wired charging and 4500mAh battery. The only difference here is the choice of the chipset – instead of the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Xiaomi has given it the Snapdragon 870 chipset. Note that the Snapdragon 870 chip is based on the Snapdragon 865 from two years ago.
