On his LinkedIn account, Dr Korn has shared images of how he uses the iPhone 13 Pro Max to help his case while treating a cornea transplant patient. This year’s iPhone 13 Pro models get the macro photography function that is baked into the ultra-wide camera. Dr Korn uses this macro mode to check the progress and even share it with his patients.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max, unlike the hundreds of affordable Android phones, does not have a dedicated macro camera. Instead, it uses a variable focus system on the ultra-wide camera to achieve the macro function. The macro mode is automatically enabled as soon as the phone goes very close to the subject.

4/5 Korn has shared photos of him using the new iPhone’s camera system to monitor his patient’s progress. "Been using the iPhone 13 Pro Max for MACRO eye photos this week. Impressed. Will innovate patient eye care & telemedicine. forward to seeing where it goes. Photos are from healing a resolving abrasion in a cornea transplant," said Korn. (Dr Korn on LinkedIn)
Once he takes the pictures, he even shares the images with his patients via the AirDrop feature. That way, he allows his patients to also know about the progress. This also allows the patient to have a record of the surgery in case they need to visit another doctor, or ever need it in the future. The macro camera also enables Korn to let his patients send pictures of their eyes remotely from their home.
