More iPhones sold in one day than over all of 2019’s Amazon Great Indian Festival

This year’s Amazon’s Great Indian Festival saw electronics like laptops, headphones, tablets, smartphones, smartwatches and cameras emerging as top sellers.

The Amazon Great Indian Festival numbers are coming in and according to data, more iPhones were sold on the opening day of the sale than what was sold over the entire sale last year. The first day of the Amazon Great Indian Festival, the one meant only for Amazon Prime members, saw the record feat being pulled off primarily because of the huge discount on the iPhone 11. The last year's smartphone was listed for 47,999 at the sale - which is its lowest price ever.

Amazon said that overall the Amazon Great Indian Festival, which still has one more day to go, has registered the biggest opening ever this year. The top categories registering the most sales have been smartphones, consumer electronics and large appliances with Apple, Samsung, OnePlus and Xiaomi raking in the record sales.

Smartphones, laptops, tabs, smartwatches, cameras, security cameras and drones have been popular searches at this year's Amazon Great Indian Festival, as per reports.

Asus, HP and Lenovo have been the top-selling brands for laptops, Apple and Samsung for tablets and TP Link and Netgear for networking products.

For smartphones, the iPhone 11 has topped the sale charts followed by the Redmi Note series, Redmi 9A, OnePlus 8T and the OnePlus nord, Samsung M31. For TVs the OnePlus 43-inch and 32-inch smart TVs have been the top sellers followed by the Samsung 32-inch TV.

Amazon said that it has sold 2.5 times more Kindle devices on the first day of the sale than it has over the entire of the last year's sale. The company's Fire Stick and Echo (3rd Generation) have also been one of top 10 most sold products on the platform. As far as streaming devices go, the category registered twice the units this year than last year's first-day sale.

The Amazon Great Indian Festival also saw the launch of 1,100 new products and the most popular among them was the OnePlus 8T, OnePlus Nord, the Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime Edition and the Xbox Series S.

Reports state that 85% more people signed up for a Prime membership this year to get access to the sale early as compared to last year. The very first day of the Amazon Great Indian Festival is only for Prime members. And Alexa also seems to have had quite a first day as well with Alexa devices answering more than 1 million requests on the app.

The Amazon Great Indian Festival this year has seen more than 1,10,000 sellers receiving orders on the first day of the sale and 32% of them had their “biggest day” on the platform. The sale also recorded sales from 98.4% pin codes in the country over the first 48 hours of the sale.
