No needle in the haystack this! Rancher uses Apple Watch to find his iPhone in a haystack

Apple’s new ad showcases how you can use the Apple Watch to find your iPhone if you ever lost it in a haystack, or something like that.

Apple has released a new video advert that showcases one of the pretty cool features you can find on the Apple Watch and the iPhone. In the ad called “Haystack” Apple has shown how you can find your smartphone with the help of your watch. A needle might be hard to find, but not an iPhone, if you have the Apple Watch that is. The ad features a rancher who uses the Apple Watch to find his iPhone 12 in a haystack.

We see the rancher driving around in his truck, along with his dog, and backing into a field, presumably looking for his lost iPhone 12. As the track “Searching (For Someone Like You)” by Kitty Wells plays in the background, we see him standing in front of a large pile of hay where he might have lost his phone. The rancher then pulls up his sleeve, looks at his Apple Watch, and pings his iPhone from it. This makes the phone chime inside the haystack and the rancher manages to find it. “Relax, it's iPhone”, states the ad. This soon gets updated to - “Relax, it's iPhone + Apple Watch”.

The rancher used the feature that is housed in the Apple Watch's Control Center to ping his iPhone and find it. This feature can help you find your lost device and lead you to the location with sound and flashlight indication if you have lost it nearby. "An iPhone that's lost is easily found," says Apple. "Relax, it's iPhone + Apple Watch".

To try this feature out for yourself, swipe up to open the Control Center on the Apple Watch and tap on the Ping iPhone button. This will make your iPhone chime if it is within the range of your Apple Watch. You can also touch and hold the Ping iPhone button down to make the iPhone flash as well, making it easier to find. However, this feature only works if your iPhone is within the range of the Apple Watch. If it is not, you can always use the Find My app on another Apple device like the iPad, MacBook, or iMac, and even iCloud.com to find your device.
