Nokia 2.1, 3.1, 5.1 are new budget-friendly phones from HMD Global

HMD Global has updated its budget and mid-range line-up of phones with the new Nokia 2.1, 3.1 and 5.1. Here are the full specifications and features of the new Nokia phones.

HMD Global on Tuesday announced three new Android handsets - the Nokia 2.1, 3.1, 5.1. Targeted at the low-end and mid-range segments, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 succeed the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 phones launched last year. The two smartphones run on Google's Android One platform while the lower-end Nokia 2.1 comes with the lightweight Android Go operating system.

HMD Global has said that the new Nokia phones will receive the Android P update, besides timely security patches. To be precise, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 will be getting Android updates for the next two years, and security updates for three years.

Nokia 2.1
Nokia 2.1, as the name suggests, is the successor to the Nokia 2 launched less than a year ago. Targeted at the lower-end segment, Nokia 2.1 comes with 5.5-inch 720p HD display. It runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 425 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The phone comes with 8GB of built-in storage.

Nokia 2.1 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.

Nokia 2.1 is scheduled to hit select markets in July this year. The smartphone is priced at $115 ( 7,800 approximately).

Nokia 3.1
Nokia 3.1 comes with a 5.2-inch LCD HD display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It runs on a Mediatek MT6755 processor, and is available in 2GB/3GB of RAM variants. In terms of built-in storage, Nokia 3.1 comes in 16GB and 32GB variants.

In the camera department, Nokia 3.1 has a 13-megapixel rear sensor and an 8-megapixel sensor on the front. It is powered by a 2,900mAh battery. The smartphone also comes with NFC connectivity.

Nokia 3.1 2GB RAM + 16GB and 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variants will be available for $160 and $196, respectively.

Nokia 5.1
The most premium phone of the lot, Nokia 5.1 comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with 2,160 x 1,080 resolution (full HD), and 18:9 screen ratio. It is powered by the Mediatek MT6750 processor coupled with 2GB/3GB RAM. The smartphone is also available in 16GB/32GB built-in storage variants.

Nokia 5.1 sports a 16-megapixel camera on the back and has an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies. The smartphone is powered by a 2,970mAh battery.

Other highlights of the Nokia 5.1 include dual nano-SIM support (hybrid SIM slot), Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back.

Nokia 5.1 will be available at a starting price of $218 ( 14,000 approximately). The top-end model will be priced at $254 ( 17,200 approximately).
