Amazon updates Echo Show 8, Echo Show 5 with better cameras, new features

Amazon has also launched a kids version of the Echo Show 5 that comes with 1 year of Amazon Kids Plus services and a 2-year warranty.

Amazon has refreshed the Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 5 with upgraded cameras and new features. Amazon has also announced a kids version of the Echo Show 5. The new Echo Show 8 can follow you as you move around the room but it doesn't have a rotating camera like the Echo Show 10. It's priced at $130 ( ₹9,600 approx), and it will be available in June. The Echo Show 5 is priced at $85 ( ₹6,300 approx) while the Echo Show Kids 5 has a price tag of $95 ( ₹7,000 approx).

Amazon has added a new unnamed octa-core processor on the Echo Show 8. It also features a 13-megapixel camera that is capable of features like panning and zooming during video calls. The field of view of this camera is 110 degrees. The Echo Show 8 also has a human detection feature that turns on routines when it detects someone walking into the room. Amazon has also added new AR effects including custom virtual backgrounds and animated reactions for video calls, The Verge reported.

On the Echo Show 5, there's a new 2-megapixel camera which has the motion detection feature but not the pan and zoom feature. The Echo Show 5 also comes in a new blue colour in addition to the white and charcoal options. The kids version of the Echo Show 5 comes with the same specifications but it has a multi-coloured fabric on the rear, and kid-friendly home screen themes. Amazon also bundles 1 year of Amazon Kids Plus services and a 2-year warranty on the Echo Show 5 Kids.
