Google Nest Hub 2 gets listed by a retailer, Soli radar and other features revealed
Google has not yet revealed anything about the next-generation of ‘Nest' smart home devices but one of the retailers seems to have jumped the gun. B&H Photo Video (via Android Police) has apparently listed Google's rumoured Nest Hub 2 on its website. Although it doesn't reveal the images, it does give away some of the features, giving us some idea of what to expect. As mentioned in the listing, the Hub 2 is supposed to feature a 7-inch screen with 1024x600 pixels resolution. It is also supposed to come with an ambient EQ sensor along with a new colour sensor so it can adjust the screen brightness based on outside lighting.
What's more is that the Nest Hub 2 will support a three-mic array compared to two mics available in the current version. But the audio output doesn't seem to be an improvement as per the listing. The Hub 2 is not said to let go of passive radiators and the primary driver is slightly bigger at 43.5mm.
All this comes in addition to some new sensors including the one for temperature and a Soli radar. It is the second time we are hearing Google's upcoming Nest device to feature Soli chip. As per a report from January, Google was working on a Nest device with Soli radar, a chipset that it introduced with Pixel 4 handsets.
This technology lets users perform air gestures on the Pixel 4 for actions such as playing and pausing or skipping and rewinding tracks. Air gestures can also be used to snooze alarms and silence calls on the Pixel 4. Google used Soli radar for facial recognition on the Pixel 4 as well.
As for the colours, you may get Nest Hub 2 in different colours including - Chalk, Charcoal, Mist and Sand. The listing also mentions the price as $99, which most likely is a placeholder as the original Nest Hub was priced at $150.
