Microsoft is hosting an event later this week, which will be livestreamed, during which it will launch “what's next for Windows.” Yes, it is a big deal as Microsoft is expected to unveil Windows 11, the next update to its operating system. Microsoft chief Satya Nadella had said at the Microsoft Build developer conference that the company plans to announce the next version of Windows. This is also said to be “one of the most significant updates of Windows of the past decade.”

Microsoft Windows release date is June 24 and the time will be 8 am PT, which would be 8:30 pm IST for viewers in India. The event will be livestreamed on Microsoft's YouTube channel, and it will feature CEO Satya Nadella and chief product officer, Panos Panay. It will be a major event as we'll get to see the biggest Windows in years.

Microsoft is also expected to announce the release date of Windows 11 at this event but there's no confirmation yet. According to rumours, Microsoft plans to launch Windows 11 during the second half of the year. Windows 11 is also said to be available to the public by the end of the year. As for the pricing of Windows 11, there is no confirmation on that either. Microsoft could offer Windows 11 as a free upgrade to Windows 10 users, and it could be an optional upgrade too. But Microsoft has confirmed that it will end support for Windows 10 in 2025.

We've already gotten an early look at Windows 11 through a leak that's supposed to be an unfinished build of the operating system. Windows 11 comes with a revamped UI, a new start menu, and taskbar design as well. The new UI and Start Menu are also similar to Windows 10X whose development has been officially discontinued. The taskbar menu has gone through a big change with the Start Menu and apps now placed at the centre. The search option is also placed next to the Start Menu.

The Windows logo is also now square as opposed to the trapezoidal logo. The new Windows logo also features rounded corners instead of the previous sharp edges. The file explorer has also received a redesigned icon in Windows 11. More changes include a new setup experience similar to Windows 10X, and a new Windows startup sound as well.
