While the world prepares for the ultra expensive and luxurious iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, Xiaomi India is ready to target the other end of the spectrum. The Redmi A1 could be an exact opposite of what the iPhone 14 Pro could end up to be, but it will be more affordable. Xiaomi is yet to reveal the prices and rest of the specifications of the Redmi A1 but we know that it will be launching on September 6, a day before the iPhone 14's expected launch date. Here is all you need to know.

The Redmi A1 specifications teased on its website and social media portals show the phone's design and some basic specs. The Redmi A1 looks largely like Xiaomi's budget smartphones but it will bring a new leather back design inspired from its flagship Xiaomi 12S series phones. The phone could have a plastic unibody design with a dual camera setup at the back. The phone also appears to have a traditional waterdrop-style notch display design.

Redmi A1 specifications teased

Additionally, Xiaomi has revealed the Redmi A1 to come in three colour variants, which include blue, green and black. Sadly, the renders don't reveal whether the Redmi A1 features a USB-C port or a microUSB port.

On the spec sheet side, Xiaomi reveals the presence of a big 5000mAh battery, which is a big deal for entry-level budget smartphones. Additionally, the phone is also said to come with a MediaTek chipset and will be accompanied by what Xiaomi calls a “clean Android experience”.

The Redmi A1 seems to a successor to the Redmi 9A models from last year, and could kickstart a new series of affordable smartphones with basic specs and features. What remains to be seen is how low can Xiaomi price the handset in India. With rising component costs and manufacturing issues, the Redmi A1 could take on the likes of the Realme C30 that costs Rs. 7,499.

On the other hand, Xiaomi is expected to announce the Xiaomi 12T series smartphones globally. The Xiaomi 12T could debut the 200MP main rear camera system and could rely on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.
