Colours

As for the colours, the new iPhone 12 mini can be purchased in White, Black, Blue, Green and Product Red whereas the iPhone SE comes in just three colours – Black, Product Red and White.

Design

The iPhone SE has the older-generation design, something we last saw with iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. It has rounded corners with huge bezels on top and bottom of the screen. There's a circular TouchID scanner at the chin as well. The new iPhone 12 mini, however, brings back the iPhone 5 and 5S design with flat bezels and is in line with the design of the entire iPhone 12 series. There's no circular TouchID as it has edge-to-edge screen.

Processor

Powering the iPhone 12 mini is the latest A14 Bionic chipset with improved neural engine. However, the iPhone SE is powered by A13 Bionic with third-generation neural engine.

Rear camera

iPhone 12 mini has a clear lead in the camera department as it has dual 12-megapixel wide and ultra-wide sensors with f/1.6 and f/2.4 aperture, Night Mode, Deep Fusion and 2x optical zoom. The iPhone SE has just a single 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f/1.8 aperture. It misses out on Night Mode, Deep Fusion and 2x optical zoom.

In iPhone SE there's a 7-megapixel FaceTime camera. There's no 4K, HDR and Dolby Vision video recording, no Night mode, Deep Fusion and Animoji/Memoji.

Battery

The new iPhone 12 mini supports MagSafe wireless charging and has a video playback time of up to 15 hours. The iPhone SE does not include MagSafe charging tech and can go for up to 13 hours when it comes to video playback. Both support Qi charging.
