Apple iPhone 12 Pro pre-orders better than expected, might be a sales booster along with iPhone 12
As per the analyst, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Max may roughly contribute to about 30-35% share each in new iPhone shipments this quarter.
Earlier it was expected that the lower-end iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini models will be the ones that will be driving the sales for Apple this year. But it looks like there's enough interest in iPhone 12 Pro as well. According to TF International Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, the iPhone 12 Pro pre-order seems to have beaten the expectations as the ‘core' fans prefer the high-end models. A log of push is coming from the Chinese market as well.
“The iPhone 12 Pro pre-order beat our expectation because of Apple core fans' initial preference for high-end models, the strong demand in the Chinese market, and the coming peak season demand in the US and Europe,” said Kuo in his research note, obtained by Macrumours.

As per the analyst, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Max may roughly contribute to about 30-35% share each in new iPhone shipments this quarter. However, he has also downgraded the expectations for iPhone 12 Mini. The smallest handset in the line up might just bring 10-15% of sales. The estimates before were around 20-25%. That's because it's weak demand in market like China.
Apple Insider, citing Kuo, adds that Apple got somewhere around 7 million and 9 million combined pre-orders for iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. The numbers will rise later in November when iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 mini will go on sale. But the latter two are not expected to match the numbers given by iPhone 12 and 12 Pro.

There are minor differences between iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. This includes a more premium mix of glass and metal, LiDAR sensor and better camera specs in general.
