While the tech community and the deep pocketed ones celebrate the latest iPhone every year, it is the Redmi Note series from Xiaomi that wooes the affordable segment. This year, the Redmi Note 11 Pro series that India got dominates the affordable smartphone space with its outstanding specifications and features. Now, it is time for the Redmi Note 12 series to break cover. Spoiler alert – you already saw the big feature in the headline.

Based on a recent tip from Mukul Sharma, the noted Indian tipster, it is said that Xiaomi is preparing the Redmi Note 12 series for China. There are three models planned under the Note 12 series, and they have all been listed with a Chinese regulatory authority. The listing includes a standard Redmi Note 12, a more capable Redmi Note 12 Pro, and the top-of-the-line Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus.

Redmi Note 12 series getting ready for launch

The launch date is yet to be determined and so are the basic specifications. However, it is already known that Xiaomi could be using a much faster 210W wired charging solution on the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. Yes, 210W. That falls in the laptop category and is unheard of in the mobile space. The most powerful system so far comes from Realme, which has its 150W charging solution on the Realme GT Neo 3.

Not sure which
mobile to buy?

What remains to be seen is whether this 210W charging solution makes any difference to the charging speeds, or is simply a gimmick. Xiaomi's 120W wired charging solution fills up a 4500mAh battery in less than 30 minutes, and in ideal conditions, it can drop down to 20 minutes.

As part of the leaks, it is also said that the Redmi Note 12 series could make use of the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip. The Dimensity 1080 is a successor to the Dimensity 920 from last year and promises slight performance improvements.

Don't get excited though. The Redmi Note series in China usually gets sold in global markets as the Xiaomi i series, and this is expected to be sold as the Xiaomi 12i in India, if the company decides to launch it in India.
