After launching the ROG Phone 5, Asus is now gearing for yet another flagship smartphone series. Dubbed as Zenfone 8, the new lineup is said to come with Qualcomm's top-end Snapdragon 888 processor. Ahead of the official launch, new details about the handset series have emerged online.

According to leakster ReaMeizu, Asus Zenfone 8 series will be available in at least three versions. The model number ZS590KS will feature a 120Hz display with full HD resolution. The phone will come with IMX686/IMX663 camera sensors as well. The second model, ZS673KS, will also offer a full HD screen but a better 144Hz refresh rate. It will also have IMX686/OM13855/OV8856 camera sensors.

The third version, ZS675KW aka Picasso, will have F: OV24B1Q R: IMX686/IMX363/OV08A sensors. There is another variant codenamed “Vodka”, but details are sketchy at the moment. The leakster says the phone has the Snapdragon 888 5G. The different model numbers are said to launch as Asus Zenfone 8, Zenfone 8 Pro and so on.

The Zenfone 8 will follow the Zenfone 7 series that had launched in August last year. The predecessor retained Asus' flip camera module. As expected, the flagship series came with top-of-the-line specifications, including Qualcomm's high-end Snapdragon 865 processor.

Just a quick recap of the Zenfone 7 Pro model: The phone featured a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 200Hz touch sampling rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. It had a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. The phone featured a combination of a 64-megapixel wide-angle sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with a 113-degree field of view, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. A 5,000mAh battery with 30W charging support powered the phone.

That said, Asus' Zenfone 8 series is likely to be priced aggressively and may offer an affordable alternative to the power users-focused ROG Phone 5, which starts at 49,999 in India.
