Android smartphones have had a feature for quite some that iPhones did not! Fans have great expectations from what iPhone 14 will bring, but this feature certainly will not make too many of them jump with excitement. It's like going back to the future! It would be welcome of course, simply because it is very useful, but Android phones have had it for a long time. So, what is this nifty feature? Apple has finally announced a major OS upgrade for iPhone 8 and later models and it is none other than an always-on display.

The much-talked-about feature that Android users have been using for years, the Always-on-display, is expected to arrive on the Pro models of the iPhone 14 series. Yes, the lower models will still not get it. Well, Apple hasn't mentioned this feature during the WWDC 2022 event, nor has it been mentioned in the list of iOS 16 features. However, earlier, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, and now a report by 9to5Mac, suggest the always-on-display feature with iOS 16. Well, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be equipped with this feature. Also read: Have iPhone 13, iPhone 12? Don't let apps invade your privacy, use this trick

Always-on-display feature that iPhone 14 Pro may feature

The Always-On-Display is a smartphone feature that lets your device continue to show limited information even while the phone is asleep, which is widely available on Android smartphones. As spotted by 9to5Mac, there are a number of references that this upgrade is available in the code of iOS 16 including a mention of it in something called Springboard, which Apple uses to manage the lock screen. But as always Apple is keeping everything secret and there is no confirmation if the feature will make it to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max. Even iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and other iOS 16 supported devices are in the dark if they will get the feature or not. But if it happens, then the iPhone will be set to rival Android smartphones with this new feature.

At the WWDC 2022 event it was revealed that the iOS 16 bring several improvements, and features to change the whole iPhone experience. Some of the standout features that were talked about are the Lock Screen customisation, improved Focus mode, new features in the iMessage app, and better iCloud sharing features.
