A while back it was rumoured that Huawei will debut a new technology in its smartphone this year - under-display camera. This tech was said to arrive alongside the flagship Huawei mate 40 series. But a new report now says that it might not be the case anymore. As per a post by a tipster on Weibo (via Gizmochina), the Huawei Mate 40 will apparently sport a different camera tech and not under the screen camera tech.

Although not much details are out yet, this piece of information contradicts the report from earlier last month. It was reported that Huawei will be working with Visionox, a company known for display panels to start mass manufacturing under-screen camera displays for future smartphones. However, it seems like the plan has been delayed.

But this is not the only tech that is rumoured for the Huawei Mate 40, the smartphone is also said to feature a 108-megapixel camera. GSMArena citing people working in Huawei's supply chain reports the next flagship phone will sport an improved optic for the 108-megapixel camera. The upgrade could be the 9P lens which is said to manage distortion and degradation of photos, delivering a much cleaner and stable shot. If true, Huawei Mate 40's will be a big upgrade over the existing 108-megapixel sensors.
