iPhone 11 beats iPhone XR to become the most popular smartphone globally

According to data by Omdia, iPhone 11 was the best selling smartphone model during Q1 this year.

Apple's iPhone 11 turned out to be the most popular smartphone model in Q1, 2020 based on data by Omdia. iPhone XR which had been the most popular iPhone so far has now passed the throne to iPhone 11.

According to Omdia, Apple shipped 19.5 million units of the iPhone 11 during the period January to March. It even exceeded iPhone XR shipments by almost 6 million units. Also, four iPhone models made it to the top 10 list of best-selling smartphone models globally. iPhone XR took the 5th spot followed by iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iPhone 11 Pro in the 8th position.

Apple has another iPhone in its kitty which could turn the tables this year. It's the iPhone SE 2nd gen which starts at 42,500 in India. This iPhone went on sale this month and it's expected to get a good response.

Samsung's Galaxy A51 took the second spot with 6.8 million shipments. Ombdia also mentioned that Samsung managed to retain the second position which was previously maintained by the Galaxy J4 Plus.

More Samsung phones in the list include Galaxy A10s in the 7th spot with 3.9 million units shipped. Galaxy S20+ 5G and Galaxy A30s took the 9th and 10th positions respectively.

Other than Apple and Samsung, Xiaomi also made its mark taking two positions for its smartphones. Redmi Note 8 came third with 6.6 million units shipped followed by the Redmi Note 8 Pro with 6.1 million shipments.
