Apple recently launched the iPhone 13 series smartphones consisting of the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. While the world is still getting used to the iPhone 13 series, reports about its successor, that is, the iPhone 14 have already started storming the internet. These reports not only talk about the features but also the model names, which are expected to change slightly next year. So here's everything that we know about the iPhone 14 series so far.
iPhone 14 series expected launch date
Apple typically launches its new iPhones in the first half of September and they usually go on sale in the second half of the month on a Friday. Maintaining the tradition, Apple introduced the iPhone 13 series on September 14 and they went on sale in markets across the globe on September 24. The iPhone-maker is expected to continue this tradition next year as well and launch the iPhone 14 series at a special event in September 2022. However, the exact dates remain unknown for now.
iPhone 14 series expected specifications
As mentioned before, a lot has already been said about the specifications of the next year's iPhone 14 series. Word is that Apple will ditch the ‘Mini' iPhone next year in favour of a ‘Max' one, which will make the iPhone 14 the entry-level iPhone next year. While the iPhone 14 series will still include four iPhone models, they will be named a bit differently. The iPhone 14 series is expected to include the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14 Max and the iPhone 14 Pro Max smartphones.
As far as the features are concerned, the Pro-level iPhone 14 models are expected to ditch the notch in favour of a punch-hole display. However, the entry-level iPhone 14 is expected to retain the notch. As far as the front camera is concerned, Apple is expected to hide the components of the Face ID under the display. Additionally, the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro are expected to come with a stainless steel chassis with a glass back while the Max and Pro Max models are tipped to get titanium chassis.
Noted Apple tipster, Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro will come with a 6.1-inch OLED display, while the iPhone 14 Max and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are tipped to come with a 6.7-inch OLED display. All of the four models are expected to feature support for 5G connectivity.
Another analyst, Ross Young has claimed that the iPhone 14 will have a 6.06-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels and a 60Hz screen refresh rate and 460 pixels per inch. The iPhone 14 Pro, on the other hand, will have similar screen specs but with a 120Hz variable refresh rate. He also said that the iPhone 14 Pro Max is likely to get a 6.68-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels with a 120Hz screen refresh rate and 458 pixels per inch. The iPhone 14 Max will have the same screen specs but a 60Hz refresh rate.
Additionally, all of the four iPhone models are tipped to be powered by A16 chipset. On the camera front, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are tipped to get a 48MP main camera, which up from 12MP cameras on the iPhone 13 models.
