Will the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max get high refresh rate displays? This is a big mystery and will likely go away for once when Apple launches these phones sometime in September. However, a new report no suggests that Apple is likely to update the displays on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max, and they could have higher refresh rate. In fact, the report talks about the notch style on these iPhone models and how it is going to evolve by 2024. Oh, and the iPhone 14 Max that we know could be called the iPhone 14 Plus.

The report comes from market research agency Omdia, which speaks in detail about the upcoming iPhone 14's display panels. The iPhone 14 series will make use of the LTPS and LTPO OLED display panels, both of which promise higher refresh rate. Samsung Display, as expected, will supply the OLED display for iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, along with the iPhone 13 in 2022. LG, however, will supply displays for iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro Max, while BOE will make displays for iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 in 2022.

iPhone 14 series display details emerge

The more interesting bit, however, is that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be getting the updated LTPS OLED displays. This could mean the iPhone 14 and Plus variant will get higher refresh rates, the absence of which has been a big complaint with the current-gen iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini models. However, the LTPS OLED display won't support the variable refresh rate technology. Hence, it might be locked to 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are also said to have the iconic display notch carried over from the iPhone 13 series. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, on the other hand, will have the variable refresh rate LTPO OLED displays. These phones will also lose the notch and go for a hole cutout solution having the selfie camera and Face ID sensors.

It even says that Apple is working on a solution to hide the Face ID sensors under the display, and that tech will be ready for the 2024 iPhone models. Hence, the iPhone in 2024 could just have a single camera cutout. The iPhone 15 series, meanwhile, will ditch the notch entirely.
