iPhone Holi photography tips: Holi brings out a great reason to bring out your cameras and etch some of the most colourful moments forever. However, if you have an iPhone on you, your DSLR camera can be put to rest. The newest models, which include the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12, have some of the most advanced post processing algorithms to make the most of those cameras, often matching or even beating some crop-sensor DSLR cameras to shame. All you need to do is be skilful as a photographer to extract the best our of your iPhone cameras.

On the popular iPhone models, which include the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and even the newly announced iPhone SE 2022, there are a couple of tricks you can empty to get some striking photos this Holi. While we are eagerly waiting for the festival to kick in and let our iPhone 13 Pro Max do its magic, we got in discussions with ace street photographer and Editor in Chief of APF magazine, Rohit Vohra, who took his iPhone 13 Pro Max on the streets of Barsana.

1. Your main wide camera is great for fast moving subjects

With the sensor shift stabilisation on the iPhone 13's main camera, you will be able to get the sharpest and clearest photos, especially when someone is playing with colours. The fast shutter speeds during the day should help with sharp details and natural colours. Even on the iPhone 12, you will be able to get similar results with ease.

2. The ultra-wide camera gives new perspectives for close-ups

If you are trying to get closer to the action and still have a wide perspective, switch to the ultra-wide camera and let it do its trick. Whether it is people having “bhaang”, or a group of kids throwing colours at each other, try the ultra-wide camera for a nice perspective. You won't lose out on details or colour consistency.

3. Portrait mode for those Holi portraits

On the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12, you should use the Portrait mode for greater depth of field effects, and better highlighting the subject. You can get some great Instagram worthy portraits that won't compromise on colours or sharpness. The best part is that you can take the photo in any of the Portrait mode settings and edit it later from the Photos app.

4. Keep the Live mode ON

It is possible to often miss out on the exact shot you want and hence, it is better to keep the Live mode ON. You always have a few frames before or after the shot to play with, and hence, possibly get that shot you originally wanted.

5. Cinematic mode on iPhone 13 for great Instagram, Snapchat stories

Oh yes, the Cinematic mode on your iPhone 13 can help you get some great movie-like perspective on the action. You will be able to change the focus on different characters even after shooting the video, and the fantastic blur effects could help you stand out with your content.

6. ProRes photos give you more control over editing

On the iPhone 13 Pro, the ProRes photos give you more freedom to play with colours, contrasts, exposure, and various other parameters.
