Long term JioPhone plan priced at ₹749 on launch; 2GB data per month

The JioPhone is a popular option in the feature phone space and Reliance Jio is now spicing up its appeal with a new plan. This is the JioPhone plan priced at ₹749. The newly launched JioPhone ₹749 prepaid long term recharge plan is the most expensive plan and at the same time, the most affordable. How? When the long-term plan benefits are counted, it comes across as being quite affordable. That means the high JioPhone plan price will not pinch much.

As part of the JioPhone plan, users can get to enjoy multiple benefits with regards to Jio apps and calls. However, those looking for larger data allowance will need to buy separate data packs. The plan is available even as you are reading this and is will be available along with other short-term prepaid plans.

New JioPhone long term plan

As the name suggests, the new JioPhone long term plan price is ₹749. As part of the benefits, the plan offers a total validity period of 336 days. Members will be entitled to basic benefits such as unlimited calls across all networks, and free access to Jio apps on the JioPhone, which include JioTV, JioCinema, JioCloud, JioNews and others.

However, the JioPhone plan plays it clever with the data allocation. On paper, Jio says that you get a total of 24GB data during the validity period. The plan, on the other hand, allocates only 2GB of total data per month during the year. Hence, you have a data cap of 2GB per month, after which the speeds go down. The 2GB data per month is deducted from the total allocated 24GB in the year.

The data isn't the only thing that's capped here. Jio is also limiting the number of SMS messages to 50 per month. The quota will reset after 28 days during the validity period.

The JioPhone ₹749 plan will be available only for existing users. New JioPhone users have an option to choose between two contracts with varying long term plans bundled to a new JioPhone. The ₹1,999 contract offers a new JioPhone along with a two-year long term plan. This plan bundles 48GB of data and unlimited calls for two years.

The other contract costs ₹1,499 and comes with a one-year plan, bundling 24GB of data for the entire period. You also get a new JioPhone with this plan.
