Motorola Edge 30 OR Xiaomi 11 Lite NE? Both of these phones promise tube the slimmest and lightest phones in the sub- 30,000 space. In fact, Motorola claims the Edge 30 is right now the slimmest and lightest 5G smartphone in the world at the moment. Motorola is also giving some of the latest and cutting edge features on its phone. But the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE has been around for a while claiming this title, and for someone spending less than Rs. 30,000, this also ends up being a good deal.

Hence, if you want a slim and lightweight phone without compromising on features, choosing between these two phones is a task, especially since both of them are sitting in the price range. Thankfully, we have reviewed both of these phones and after using them for a while, we are now in a position to tell you which one works in what way and which is the one to pick up! The Motorola being the new phone, it is bound to have some advantages but is it that easy to choose? Let us find out.

Design

Both the phone stick to a minimalist design but it is the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE that looks more expensive and eye-catchy. Even the build quality is better on the Xiaomi — glass rear and overall fit and finish. The Motorola Edge 30 looks plain in comparison and even has an all-plastic body but it gets IP52 certification for water resistance.

Display

Once again, it is the Motorola Edge 30 that takes the edge here with its 6.5-inch FHD+ 10-bit pOLED display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. It looks vibrant and is smoother on the eyes. The Xiaomi 11 Lite NE only has a 90Hz AMOLED display measuring 6.5-inches but it gets support for Dolby Vision, which the Motorola doesn't support.

Performance

Another area where the Motorola Edge 30 takes the lead over the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE. Theoretically, the Edge 30 has the faster Snapdragon 778G+ chipset while the Xiaomi uses the older Snapdragon 778G chip. In reality, both of them run equally fast. Both are able to run all the latest demanding games with absolute ease.

OS

The Xiaomi 11 Lite NE starts at ₹26,999 for the base version with 6GB RAM while the 8GB RAM version costs ₹28,999. Both variants come with 128GB of storage as standard.

Xiaomi offers as standard its MIUI 13 experience based on Android 12. MIUI offers multiple customisation features and lots of extra features over the standard Android experience. It is, however, filled with bloatware and lots of junk apps. Motorola offers Android 12 with MyUX skin on top, which looks a lot like the Google Pixel experience. The interface is free of bloatware and ads. Moreover, Motorola also offers some light customisation options to customise the overall experience.

Cameras

This is where both are almost on par with each other — none of them are exceptional camera phones. However, the Motorola Edge 30 takes a slight lead here with its neutral colour tones, better low light photos, better ultra-wide camera photos, and slightly better selfie camera photos. The Xiaomi 11 Lite NE cameras are good too but the overall out put isn't as nice looking as the Motorola Edge 30 snaps.

Battery

Despite having a slightly bigger 4250mAh battery, the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G matches the 4020mAh battery-equipped Motorola Edge 30 in offering an all-day battery life. Again, not great battery stamina results but the Snapdragon 778G chip does the magic here. Both phones support 33W charging and come with the charger in the box.

Price

The Xiaomi 11 Lite NE starts at Rs. 26,999 for the 6GB/128GB storage whereas the Motorola Edge 30 starts at Rs. 27,999 for the base 6GB/128GB variant.

The Motorola Edge 30 is slightly pricier than the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G but we saw it throughout our comparison — it edges out the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE here. With its superior display, slightly faster chip, a cleaner Android experience, and slightly better cameras. That said, the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G is built better, looks nicer, has a Dolby Vision supported display, and an overall polished experience.
