Not scrapped? Samsung Galaxy S21 FE inches closer to launch; Here’s everything we know so far

Even as some reports had earlier hinted it may be scrapped by Samsung, a new report hints that the Galaxy S21 FE may well get launched.

The Galaxy Unpacked event may be over, but the surge in launches by Samsung is not going to stop. At least that is what it looks like. Just yesterday, which is virtually the day after the special event, Samsung launched the Galaxy A12 variant with new chipset and here the South Korean mega-corporate is lining up another one. We are talking about the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE smartphone, which has been in the news for quite some time now. While some of these reports gave us a glimpse of the features that this upcoming smartphone is expected to launch with, others have hinted that the company may well suspend the Galaxy S20 FE successor owing to the ongoing global chip shortage. Samsung has tried to clear the air about this rumour by saying that no decision had been made in this regard. Now, a new report sheds some new light on the issue.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Fan Edition (FE) smartphone has been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG website. The listing has revealed that the upcoming smartphone will be available in three models, one with the model number SM-G990B_DS, the other with the model number SM-G990B and a third one with the model number SM-G990N. All three models will come with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity option. Unfortunately, beyond this, the Bluetooth SIG listing doesn't reveal much about the upcoming smartphone. All of this indicates that the Galaxy S21 FE could launch soon.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE expected specs

As mentioned before, details about the upcoming Galaxy S21 FE smartphone have already leaked online. As per these reports, the Galaxy S21 FE is tipped to come with a 6.5-inch flat screen display with a screen refresh rate of 120Hz. It is expected to be available in two variants. One with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and the other with Samsung's Exynos 2100 chipset. This is expected to be paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage space. Reports hint towards the phone being available in two variants -- one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space and the other with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space.

On the camera front, the upcoming Galaxy S21 FE is likely to come with a triple rear camera setup with a 12MP primary camera. On the front, it is tipped to get a 32MP selfie camera. As far as the battery is concerned, the phone is likely to come with a 4,500mAh battery with 45W fast charging technology. Other features include Android 11-based OneUI 3.1, IP68 rating and stereo speakers.
