Realme recently announced that it would soon launch a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 5G-based smartphone. The company has not disclosed the official launch date yet. A new leak now claims the handset will launch on June 18. The leak also adds that the company will launch a new phone with Snapdragon 870 processor on the same date.

Realme hasn't revealed much about the upcoming phone, dubbed Quicksilver, other than the new 5G chipset. Of late, Realme has focused on being one of the firsts to launch a phone with the latest chipsets. These phones are aimed at the mid-range category.

That said, the chipset in focus here is the Snapdragon 778 5G. The processor is said to deliver up to 40% better CPU performance and another 40% improvement generation-over-generation in graphics performance with the new Adreno 642L GPU under the hood. The processor comes with a Snapdragon X53 5G modem and supports both mmWave and Sub-6 connectivity. It also supports Wi-Fi 6/6E support (with 5GHz and 6GHz bands) with speeds of up to 2.9 Gbps.

“Realme has worked closely with Qualcomm on a variety of successful products, earlier this year, realme GT was one of the first devices equipped with SDM888 and we are again proud to be among the first brands to bring smartphones equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 5G chipset. The chipset will improve the performance of smartphones and will provide advanced gaming capabilities,” Madhav Sheth, VP-realme and CEO of Realme India and Europe had said on the company's association with Qualcomm.

Quicksilver isn't the only phone Realme is working on. The company is likely to soon launch the Realme X7 Max 5G in India. The phone is touted as the first phone in India with MediaTek's Dimensity 1200 processor. Reports claim the phone will launch in the first week of June. It could be available in the country for a starting price of 27,999. The top-end model could cost around 30,999.
