Xiaomi on Tuesday announced the launch of a new budget smartphone in India. With price starting at 8,299, the new Redmi 9i will be available on September 18 via Flipkart,, Mi Home, and offline retail partners. The top-end model of the phone is priced at 9,299. Redmi 9i comes in Midnight Black, Sea Blue, and Nature Green colour options.

Redmi 9i specifications

The smartphone features a 6.53-inch HD+ LCD display with 20:9 aspect ratio, 400nits brightness, and TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification.

Redmi 9i runs on a 2.0 GHz MediaTek Helio G25 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB storage. The base model comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The two variants support expandable storage up to 512GB via a microSD card.

The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery. Xiaomi says the phone has ELB (Enhanced Lifespan Battery) technology and delivers 2.5-3 years of lifespan vs. regular 2 years lifespan. The battery is coupled with 10W charging support.

On the software front, it runs on MIUI 12 out-of-the-box. The custom ROM brings features like system-wide dark mode.

Redmi 9i comes with a single 13-megapixel rear camera which supports AI Portrait mode, Document Scanner, and Kaleidoscope On the front, it has a 5-megapixel selfie camera. 

Other features of the phone include microUSB, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual 4G standby.

Before Redmi 9i, Xiaomi has launched Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi 9, and Redmi 9A in India. The Redmi 9 Prime is available for a starting price of 9,999 in India. You can get Redmi 9 for a starting price of 8,999. The recently launched Redmi 9A is available for a starting price of 6,799.
