Samsung is all set to host its Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event on August 5. At its upcoming event, which will be held virtually this year in light of the pandemic will witness the company launching its next generation Galaxy Note 20 series smartphones along with a bunch of other devices. In the past couple of weeks, rumours and reports have divulged a number of key details about Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone. Now, a new report talks about another critical functionality that is likely to be available in the Galaxy Note 20 series smartphone: Dex mode.

To give you a quick brief about Samsung Dex, it was introduced back in 2017 with the launch of Galaxy S8 to enable users to use their smartphones as PCs. However, at the time, Dex required a special docking station along with a mouse and a keyboard. Then the company got rid of the docking station with the launch of Note 9 and enabled users to use the phone's screen as a trackpad and a keyboard. The functionality got upgraded with the launch of Galaxy Note 10 as the company made a Mac and a Windows app enabling users to access Dex from their PCs.

Now, as per a report by XDA Developers, Samsung is planning to bring a wireless Dex Mode to the Galaxy Note 20. The publication found the functionality hidden in the Samsung Tips app as a part of the settings which shows how to use the feature wirelessly. The publication also notes that it is possible that the update was pushed accidentally. Additionally, the header of the tip, “DREAM_DEX_HEADER_USE_DEX_WIRELESSLY_M_TIPS” has “Dream” in it, which is also the codename for Galaxy S10. This indicates that the wireless Dex mode could also be available on Galaxy S10 series smartphones.

Whether the wireless Dex mode makes it to Galaxy Note 20 series smartphones remains a mystery for now. In any case, we will know the details when Samsung launches its next generation Note series next month.
