Android 12 has been released for developers and Samsung is among the first companies to get onboard. It has been working on the One UI 4 skin based on Android 12 and now, it is available for Indian users to try out. Similar to the global release, it is only the Galaxy S21 series devices that will be eligible to get it first.

This includes the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra; all of which were launched earlier this year. Those interested in trying the new OS update can head over to the Samsung Members app and register as a beta tester. The update itself weighs 2.3GB and also brings along the October security patch as well.

The One UI 4 update brings along some of the new Material You theme design that Google demonstrated at the Android 12 presentation earlier this year at the I/O 2021. Samsung is also bringing new widgets to compliment the new design theme, although they seem different to the ones that Google showcased on its Pixel devices.

Samsung is also bringing the RAM Plus feature that works similar to the virtual RAM extension feature from other Android phones. Samsung will allow up to 4 GB of virtual RAM expansion on these Galaxy S21 series devices. Samsung also promises improvements to the Samsung keyboard, edge panel and a new microphone mode for video calls. The last one claims to boost your voice for improved clarity.

Samsung is yet to release beta builds for the newer Galaxy Z foldables that launched a few months ago. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 are likely to get the Android 12 update at a later stage. Samsung in general promises three years of OS upgrades and four years of security patch support on its devices.

On the other hand, Google is yet to release its version of Android 12 for the Pixel devices. The Pixel phones get the Pixel Experience with a different UI and this year, it is vastly different from the stock Android 12 update that is available for other Android partners.
