The Snapdragon 898 is yet to be made official and so is anything related to Samsung Galaxy S22. However, the latest leak has already married these names, and the couple is heading for India this time! Yes, if this leak is to be believed, the Galaxy S22 series in India will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 instead of Samsung's Exynos equivalent.

Is that good or bad? Only time can tell. The next-gen Exynos chip is supposed to bring the much-hyped AMD GPU and the Galaxy S22 series will be the first to use it. Europe and Korea will get the Exynos chip while the US, Asia and Africa will enjoy Snapdragon chips this year. The leak comes from Android Police and is acknowledged by renowned Samsung tipster Max Weinbach.

For smartphone enthusiasts in India, this may come as good news. Historically, the Galaxy S series has relied on Samsung's Exynos chip and been notorious for underpowered in comparison to the Snapdragon variant. The affordable Galaxy S20 FE 5G with the Snapdragon chip was received with positive response in comparison to its Exynos variant.

This year though, Samsung seems to be reversing its choice of chips. An earlier leak suggested that the Galaxy S21 FE, which is expected to launch in January 2022, will have the Exynos 2100 chip in India instead of the Snapdragon 888. It seems that Samsung is reserving the Snapdragon advantage for its flagship Galaxy S22 models this year to drive sales.

Rumours have also pointed out at this year's Galaxy S22 Ultra being essentially a Galaxy Note successor, complete with an in-built silo for the S Pen and a similar shape. Samsung has refined its smartphone lineup in the recent times, with the foldable Galaxy Z series replacing the Galaxy Note series.
