Specs of iQOO Z5 leak ahead of India launch; packs Snapdragon 778G chip

iQOO Z5 leak: Specifications of the phone have leaked online, revealing a Snapdragon 778G chipset, a 5000mAh battery and a quad rear camera setup.

According to the iQOO Z5 leak, the mobile will use the Snapdragon 778G chip and feature a 120Hz refresh rate display.

iQOO grabbed a lot of attention with its iQOO Z3 earlier this year and now, it is preparing an updated version of the same. It will be called the iQOO Z5 and after its launch in China this week, the phone will be unveiled in India before September ends. It is expected to sit in the sub- ₹30,000 category and ahead of its launch. Unfortunately, an iQOO Z5 leak has revealed all its specifications online.

The iQOO Z5 leak comes from a tipster in China (via GizmoChina) and reveals a lot of details about this upcoming iQOO smartphone. The phone is likely to offer similar specifications as the Realme GT Master Edition. In fact, the specs appear more identical to the iQOO 7, which is currently the brand's only offering in India with a Snapdragon 870 chip.

iQOO Z5 leak: Specifications

Based on the iQOO Z5 leak, the phone will be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset. iQOO has already confirmed it via its social portals and the leak adds to it by revealing the storage variants. iQOO is likely to offer the option to choose between 8GB and 12GB RAM, as well as 128GB and 256GB storage. The Z5 could get UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM.

When it comes to what powers it within, iQOO is said to rely on a 5000mAh battery. This will come with support for iQOO's proprietary 44W fast charging. The phone is likely to launch with Android 11 wearing iQOO's custom Android skin.

The front will have a Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. The display will have Gorilla Glass 5 protection while the rear is also said to use a frosted plastic panel.

For selfies, it may feature a 16-megapixel front camera sitting in a punch hole cutout. The rear cameras could consist of a 64-megapixel Samsung GW3 main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera.

Other features include a side-facing fingerprint scanner, Hi-Res Audio, Hi-Res Audio Wireless, rotor motor, and VC cooling for heat dissipation, says the tipster.

What remains to be seen is how iQOO ends up pricing the Z5 in India. Currently, the Realme GT Master Edition is the most affordable Snapdragon 778G equipped phone, with the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G being the more premium alternative. Xiaomi is also launching its Mi 11 Lite NE in India on September 29, which is another Snapdragon 778G equipped phone.
