There is going to be a Pixel 4a 5G but no Pixel 5XL
Google will be launching three phones in 2020 - the Pixel 4a, the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5.
It does not look like Google is going to release an XL variant of the new flagship smartphone this year. And this confirmation of sorts comes from 9to5Google while digging through the code of Google Search app's latest beta version and looking through new references of Google's upcoming 2020 Pixel range.
9to5Goole has been tracking two codenames for the last few months - Bramble and Redfin. They assumed that Bramble was Google's internal name for the Google Pixel 5 XL, however, a new string code in the Search app ties Bramble with the Pixel 4a (5G).
Reports have it that Bramble will feature the Snapdragon 765 processor and rumours have suggested that Google has no plans of using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 in the Pixel 5. The combination of these two bits of information points to the theory that the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5 will both come with the same Snapdragon 765G SoC. And might also launch at the same time this year.
At least this confirms that the much-awaited and long-overdue Pixel 4a, with the Snapdragon 730, is coming this year. And it looks like Google will be launching three phones in 2020 - the Pixel 4a, the 4a 5G and the Pixel 5.
9to5Google has mentioned that the Pixel 5 may not come with ‘flagship' specs.
