Vivo has officially announced the launch date for its brand-new Origin OS. The new custom OS will be showcased on November 18, a day before the company's Vivo Developer Conference (VDC) 2020 kicks off.

According to GSMArena, Vivo has set up a special Weibo page. In its very first post, the Origin OS page confirms a “Special Event” in Shenzen, China.

Interestingly, Vivo has remained tight-lipped on its plans for the new custom OS. Reports suggest the new software will offer a simpler interface. It could also come with a variety of new and exclusive features.

There is also rumours of the company introducing a smart switch, which will allow users to switch between stock Android interface and the custom OS. The Origin OS is said to be named after the team that built it – Origin Studio.

Reliable leakster Digital Chat Station said last month that Vivo's Origin OS has “improved a lot” and offers “everything that should be available, and it is expected to be among the first echelon of Android customized UI.”

Reports suggest Vivo could start rolling out the Origin OS alongside the X60 flagship phone launch, which is expected to take place very soon.

Vivo currently offers Funtouch OS on its handsets. The v10 of the OS was launched in December last year. Since then, Vivo has introduced multiple new features for its users. a

Separately, Vivo recently launched Vivo 20 SE mid-range smartphone in India. Priced at 20,990, Vivo 20 SE sports a 6.44-inch AMOLED screen with full HD+ resolution.

Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, the phone has 8GB of RAM and 128GB ROM. It also supports microSD card slot for additional storage up to 1TB. On the software front, it runs on Funtouch OS 11, which is based on Android 11.

The triple-rear camera setup consists of a 48-megapixel primary sensor, 2-megapixel sensor (bokeh camera), and 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor. On the front, it has a 32-megapixel sensor. It runs on a 4,100mAh battery with 33W FlashCharge.
