While details are scarce, or rather non existent on the standard V23, the V23 Pro has already been in the news. Rumours suggest that the V23 Pro will go on sale first, followed by the V23 in the first half of January. Vivo has nothing to say or reveal regarding the V23 series yet.

There are quite a few things we know about the Vivo V23 Pro, starting with:

Launch date

The Vivo V23 Pro is expected to launch in the first week of January 2022. Leaks even suggest that January 4 will be the launch day for the V23 Pro as well as the V23. Vivo is yet to announce any event or launch details yet.

Chipset

Based on a leaked GeekBench data table, the Vivo V23 Pro is most likely to rely on the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. This is a very fast chipset by all means and has been used several midrange gaming smartphone in 2021. Vivo itself used the Dimensity 1200 on the Vivo X70 Pro that was launched a few months ago.

RAM

The same Geekbench data also reveals that phone will have an 8GB RAM variant. You can expect Vivo to bake in expandable RAM feature that is found on other Vivo smartphones already.

OS

GeekBench suggests that Vivo will launch the V23 Pro with Android 12. The phone is most likely to have the FunTouchOS skin on top of Android 12. There's also a chance that Vivo could finally bring OriginOS Ocean with the V series devices.

Design

Although the renders of the V23 Pro are yet to be leaked, it is said that Vivo will use a colour changing rear panel. Based on the UV light and sunlight, the rear panel is expected to change its colours accordingly. Vivo could call this technology Changeable Flourite Glass material.

Cameras

The Vivo V23 Pro has been rumoured to feature a 64MP main rear camera amongst a pack of multiple cameras. It remains to be seen whether Vivo retains the dual selfie camera setup from the V20 Pro 5G, or settles for some other arrangement.

Expected other features

- Vivo could be offering a 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED display on the V23 Pro, since it is a norm for all smartphones in the midrange segment to feature it. We won't be surprised if Vivo borrows the same display from the X60.

- Vivo could offer a fast 55W charging solution, or even faster 66W solution from its high-end models.

- Given the inflation and standard generation price upgrades, Vivo could sell the V23 Pro 5G for prices similar to the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G, which itself costs 35,000. This could help Vivo fill in the gap between the X60 and the V23.
