Apple had launched Apple TV+ on November 1, 2019 and had given all users a one-year free trial. This free stint was obviously set to end for all the free users on November 1 this year but Apple is extending all existing trials to February 2021.

All users who were there for day one of the Apple TV+ free trial should have ideally started paying come November, so this is good news for them all. So, anyone who started the free trial between November 2019 and January 2020 will get some extra months free. For all of those who signed up before November 1, 2020, will get $4.99 as store credit through February 2021, according to a report in Variety.

Basically, for some lucky people (depending on when you began your free trial of Apple TV+), you get about three months of Apple TV+ free.

And this is in all likelihood because of the global pandemic slowing down the production of the original series on Apple TV+.

While people wait for the new series to land up on the platform, this extended free trial gives Apple TV+ users a chance to catch up on old series and watch the premiers of new ones without having to pay again.

For users paying annual rates, AppleInsider reports, three months will be added to the back end. Those paying monthly rates will get that amount refunded as store credit to the account. There are no clear details yet how this is going to work out once the Apple One bundle rolls in, which is expected to happen ‘soon',

All users who started the free Apple TV+ trial between January 31 and today will get a one year free trial with no additional time. The only people not affected by this change are those who never started a free trial and are not paying for the service.

Apple TV+ is available to watch across all Apple platforms, on the web, and on some smart TV brands. The service costs $4.99 per month or $50 per year. Apple TV+ is also bundled with every tier of Apple One, which is set to release later in 2020.

Apple One services will cost 195 in India per month for the base plan.
