IFA 2018: Huawei Mate 20 Lite with four cameras launched

Huawei Mate 20 Lite will be available first in the UK. The flagship Mate 20 series with Kirin 980 processor will be launched on October 16 in London.

Huawei's keynote at the ongoing IFA 2018 witnessed some product launches. The company unveiled its Kirin 980 chipset and Amazon Alexa-powered AI Cube smart speaker. Huawei also launched a new smartphone — Mate 20 Lite.

Huawei Mate 20 Lite will be available first in the UK from September 5 GBP 379 34,900 approximately. The smartphone comes in two colour options of black and sapphire blue.

Huawei Mate 20 Lite specifications

Huawei Mate 20 Lite features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Under the hood, the smartphone runs in-house Kirin 710 octa-core processor paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. On the software front, it runs Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.2 layered on top.

For photography, Mate 20 Lite offers an AI-powered quad-camera setup. On the rear, there's a combination of 20-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors with f/1.8 aperture and PDAF. Up front, the smartphone houses a 24-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual-camera setup with f/2.0 aperture.

Keeping the smartphone ticking is a 3,750 mAh battery along with support for the company's quick charging. Its connectivity options include dual SIM, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone also comes with AI features for online shopping, noise assistant, smart gallery and more.

It also uses AI for scene detection which automatically adjusts the camera settings according to the background. Mate 20 Lite can recognise up to eight scene categories. The smartphone also features 3D Qmoji which is the company's own rendition of Animoji on the Apple iPhone X.

Huawei also announced that it will launch its flagship smartphone Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro in London on October 16. Huawei Mate 20 will also be the first smartphone to be powered the newly launched Kirin 980 processor.
