Mi Reader, Xiaomi’s Kindle-rival is set to launch in global markets
Xiaomi may soon launch an Amazon Kindle-like ebook reader in global markets. The company had showcased Mi Reader last year in China and has remained exclusive to that market so far. The device has now been spotted on Bluetooth SIG database.
Expected to launch later this month or early August, Xiaomi's Mi Reader supports Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The device comes with a 6.5-inch e-ink display with 221pixels, reports Gizchina. The Mi Reader also has front-LED (24-level).
It runs on an Allwinner chipset coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage. The device is said to support a variety of file formats such as PDF, doc, and TXT. Users also have the option to download their own content on the device.
Right now, there is no word on the global pricing and exact release date of the Mi Reader.
Separately, Xiaomi recently launched Mi Portable Electric Air compressor in India. Priced at ₹2,299, the compressor runs on a 2,000mAh battery and can charge via the micro USB port at 10W. The device also features an LED light and a display to show stats such as psi levels.
Xiaomi claims the compressor can be fully charged in less than 3 hours. The company said the device can inflate up to 5 car tires with pumping speed of six minutes each. It can also be used to fill the air in a bicycle tire, bike, and football.
